LOST TREASURE
Earlier today while speaking to Jamie Gossard he told me one of my favorite seedlings of his had died. I had admired this seedling over the last few years and knew Jamie did also. This seedling not only had a clear purple color but sported teeth down into the throat. The clear color of the daylily is what impressed me. I’ve seen hundreds of examples of teeth daylilies and this daylily was among the elite combining color and teeth.
Jamie took the loss in stride and said he was lucky enough to have made seed with the daylily. Diana had crossed it into her doubles also. I’m sure someday another similar daylily will arrive but for now it will be remembered as ahead of its time.
