SAINTLY DISPOSITION

CLEMENT 08 (Rue Madelaine x Bela Lugosi)
 30" x 5.5" ml ev tet.
Like this year's introduction WEDDING CANTATA, SAINTLY DISPOSITION is an evergreen that has been very hardy in my
central Indiana seedling beds.  The picture is not a very good shot of it and I almost held it back another year in hopes of getting a
better photo of it. The color is a much darker shade of purple than the photo suggests and SAINTLY DISPOSITION continues to strut its stuff
after many other cultivars are done blooming for the season. The thin white edge and yellow green throat on a 5.5 inch bloom on 3 way branched 30 inch  scapes supporting a bud count of 17 completes the picture.
Most of the modern tet purples introduced by northern hybridizers are out of Tet GRAND MASTERPIECE.  While TGM introduced the daylily word to a whole new world of exciting purple colors in northern hardy tetraploids,
TGM descendants generally struggle to open well on cool mornings.  While not a true early morning opener,
SAINTLY DISPOSITION opens far better
on cool mornings than nearly all of the TGM descendants that I grow (and I grow quite a few of them) and that is one of main reasons
justifying its introduction.  Fertile both ways.
