T97-19: (Divine Comedy X Lord Of Illusion)
Over the years Steve has been the host for a number of college students that were doing their field placement at the garden. One of these students was Tony Slanec who showed promise in hybridizing right from the start. Many were the days that he and Steve would be going around the garden performing a combination of plant identification and breeding activities simultaneously.
One of the many crosses made by Tony resulted in H. Luck Will Have It that Steve admired right from its maiden bloom.
It is a captivating bicolor that is not represented well in the photo. The color is more of a crimson that is quite vibrant. H. Luck Will Have It has what I call a sunburst throat of yellow that is separated from the petal color by a darker band. Petals are unusually wide for this class. The sepals are a pastel cream and the edge on the flower matches this color. “Luck” is a true joy in the limited world of bicolors.
