M. Holmes Sdlg SH1000 (Munson 1000 X Forestlake Ragamuffin)
SemiEv. 24". 6". 3 way Branching. 18 Budcount Tetraploid.
Many of you have you have seen this daylily over the past few years. David Kirchhoff, known for his keen eye and red hybridizing without hesitation
requested this daylily. And if you are wondering if Jamie Gossard is using this daylily, the answer is yes.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS is an clear orange red daylily trimmed with gold teeth on
the petals and sepals. In full sun, the throat starts out green in the morning and fades to yellow by evening.
The cross, Munson 1000, now owned by Mee Ying, is a clear purple Munson seedling without teeth. Ragamuffin gave up her teeth.
I'd recommend HAPPY HOLIDAYS for several reasons. The color is important. Why? Strong clear and clean color for teeth daylilies is rare. And the teeth shown are not temperature related.
You can hybridize this daylily with confidence to reds, pinks, oranges, and purples and expect first generation clean colors.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS in a clump is striking and an eye catcher. It's not just a pretty picture. The picture shown was taken with limited watering and care. Special thanks to Lori Hankinson for the name. We have HAPPY HOLIDAYS placed on the border of one of our beds and are happy to show it. Easy fertile both ways. One word of note HAPPY HOLIDAYS does not make big crowns.
