![]() ![]() ESAU'S FOLLY
(JAUNTY JULIE X WILSON SPIDER) 40" x 7" m sev dip, 3 way branching, bud count 17, unusual form. I originally selected this seedling to bear the name JACOB'S LADDER. While its performance in the original seedling bed was outstanding, it was slow to recover that performance after having been moved following its move into the selected seedling bed and that name was given to its sibling, JACOB'S LADDER that I introduced last year. This past summer it proved itself worthy of introduction and I thought it fitting to name it have its biblical namesake who gave up his birthright to his sibling, hence it is to be hereafter known as ESAU'S FOLLY. Pollen fertile only; it has proven to be a good parent. This lavender watermarked cultivar with white edges and yellow green throat shows two distinct faces. Early in the season it generally presents itself as a fairly wide petaled cascade, quite gorgeous in its own right. However, as the season progresses it gradually undergoes a transformation and it becomes a twisty crispate. While ESAU'S FOLLY may possibly be slow to establish, once it does it will prove to have been worth the wait.
